How We are Keeping 2023 Fresh and Exciting?
Happy New Year Y'all from me, Callie here at Wildflower Artistry. I just wanted to take some time this morning to launch our fun filled plan for the year of 2023! So as you may know being a florist involves having to select flowers weekly from the wholesalers. Sometimes this can be STRESSFUL because you never know what to buy or how much because each weeks orders are always a surprise. So to eliminate some stress from my life I've come up with a fun idea that will keep things New and Interesting Every Month and Give Everyone something to look Forwards to! And this is.....
The Flower of the Month

The Color Pallet of the Month

This being said Every Month we will be Highlighting a certain Flower in our work & We are going to be using Color Styles 'Color Pallet of the Month'
January's Flower of the Month

The Carnation!
I know, I know people think carnations and they have all these twisted views of them: there Cheap, there Cliché, and Mainstream. I am here today to tell you that all the old views of carnations should be tossed aside with the New Year because these flowers are absolutely beautiful, they last a long time, and I guarantee there are several varieties out there you wouldn't even suspect of being a carnations. I wanted to start January off with carnations because 1. It is the birth flower associated with January 2. It is one of the only flower family's still in season right now & 3. They have so many beautiful options for this flower now that Japan and china have cross bread and mastered the color profiles.
Before you get all worked up let's take a quick look at the history of Carnations from Kennicote. " The carnation is native to the Mediterranean area but is now grown around the world. Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) is a widely cultivated fringe-petaled flower with a spicy fragrance. It was first imported to the United States in the 1850s, and within two decades, more than 50 varieties had been made available.
There are now hundreds of amazing varieties, and these beauties are just gaining popularity with their longevity, versatility, and all of the new antique varieties available!"

Look at how beautiful that color is! So many options and such a great way to start our year!
All that being said we are going to show case just how Beautiful the carnations really can be in the month of January so we will make sure to post all our work on social media for y'all to see as well! So let's move on to the next exciting thing we're going to be doing this year!

Color Pallet of the Month
The color pallet of the month is going to be a fun way to show everyone just how awesome some of these colors can be when normally you wouldn't think of them for flowers! Also 'Your Color Style' the creator of the monthly color palettes will be posting weekly color challenges! So I'm going to be taking them up on there challenges and seeing what kind of floral art I can create with the colors they give me😉
#1 Wide Spread Color Pallete
The is the pallete put together with different shades, hues, and tones of the 4 main colors that inspired the wide spread pallete so let's take a look 👀

So right here you'll see a giant compilation Of all the complementary colors that are well-suited for the four main colors that have inspired the whole entire color palette of the month. So let's get into those four main colors now because this will be the 4 main colors I'm planning on using in my design work.
Samoan Sun

This beautiful golden yellow gives off a laid-back warm tone with a hint of mustard. Not too bright but not to dull, I love it!
Midnight

Our next color is Pantones Midnight blue, this will be an extremely unique addition to our pallete because of the limited flowers that come in this color, but it will be super exciting to see what we can create using this amazing blue!
Soft Chilli

Our third color of the month is soft chilli! I absolutely love this color as one of my personal favorites I will be highlighting it as often as I can. It is a very romantic and royal color in a floral arrangement that put just red to shame!
Grey-Green

Last but not least because this will be prominent in probably every design for our Greenery color we have Grey-Green! This is yet another personal favorite of mine because it's a super trending and overall beautiful color when it comes accenting Flowers. I love using Grey-Green Greenery in my arrangements and it is going to be the icing on the cake when it comes to finishing off our 4 Main Colors.
